Starting at the End: Alison Krauss

Hello again! Can you believe it's almost been a year since my last post? Pretty pathetic, I must admit. I've been having a bit of writer's block on some new songs I'm working on and think maybe getting some memories out into the void might help the juices. Think of this as my electronic pensieve.

Also, hope you like the latest page face lift!

There is a lot to be said about this past year. So many many events. And I'll get to them! But first, let's start with this life-changing weekend.

You'll won't be a complete person until you listen to this. Yes, I'm saying this like a BuzzFeed post title

Excuse the video, all you need to do it listen

I have moments in my life when I cannot control my heart. All my blood goes warm, my chest palpitates, and my eyes dilate. I don't think I'm the only one that gets this way (?)... It's love. And I feel it so strong when music surrounds me. I felt it on Friday when this happened

The whole performance was beautifully tear-jerking. But the encore brought me to straight up SOBS. It was magical to see such an influential band gather around one condenser mic in true old timey Bluegrass fashion. The way they danced around to balance the sound was perfect! Everyone of the encore songs has had such a shaping part in my life. I owe my burning passion for folk music to so many and Alison Krauss is one of the primary embers.

Other memories from the night include:

+  a rowdy bunch of South Louisville men by us sneaking in their spirits and calling us a couple of yuppies. Ouch?
+  finding a new great band, The Wild Feathers!
+ dancing around to Willie Nelson as he sang "Hey Good Lookin'."
+ grabbing some Red Robin after the concert. Made me so nostalgic thinking of all the nights I would go there with my favorite Washingtonians.

Until next post! Hopefully sooner than later?
