Louisville through my collage-happy eyes

Pictures of my work surroundings. I hadn't seen a phone like this for YEARS!

Woohoo! I'm only four months behind in my blog posts now! And we're finally into the new chapter: Louisville, KY. Brace yourself because I think I'm gonna have a lot to say about this favorite six month city.

Let me start by saying the way Trent and I found out where we're moving here: We usually found out through work rumors within his program. At the time, we were rumored to go to Bucyrus, OH (where's that?) and were not adjusting well to the news. But we were slapping on a happy face anyway; after all you don't have the luxury of choosing when you put your fate into the hands of a company. So you can imagine our surprise and ecstatic feelings when Trent was offered a position in Louisville. We jumped out of our seats with excitement!

The only sad part of the move was saying goodbye to old CO besties. We thought we would have moved at least a month later but were robbed of that "farewell" time which actually made Longmont a 5 month city instead of 6 months. In mid January we headed out East. While en route we stopped in Independence, Missouri and toured the Community of Christ temple (a spin off of the LDS faith) and later the Kansas City LDS temple. And guess who I ran into!? My old fiddle playing pal Sophie who was currently serving a mission there!

It's always especially hard whenever I start off in a new city. I'm unemployed, have to single-handedly unpack, and get integrated into a new city. Don't get me wrong, I love the adventure. But sometimes the idea of settling down sounds like something from "The Impossible Dream."  This time the stress of the move actually affected my body. Right after we got there we got our gym memberships and within the first week there I blew out my back. It took about a month for me to feel good enough to hit the gym again and even at that, just light cardio. Also, conveniently enough, I had a radio interview the same day I blew out my back! My live songs definitely sounded (and believe me) felt outta whack!

So with being unemployed having blown out back, my days were spent mostly applying to jobs online, ordering things off Amazon and visiting a chiropractor. It was kind of nice to go back to basics even through the situation was less than ideal. And eventually my back healed and we were free to explore our new city!

For the past 4 months I have been employed at Jewish Hospital doing helping in their billing department. But don't worry, I still haven't been giving up on my dreams being a professional musician. I have also worked as a private voice teacher as well as a performer in the Louisville area. Louisville has been so much fun for Trent and me on the weekends. We've enjoyed (almost) every restaurant gorging ourselves way more than any other time in our lives (and believe me, we've had to go to the gym twice as much to make up for it). We crave the old history everywhere from the cemetery to the streets downtown! It's a great place to live and an even harder one to leave. Wish we could have more time here!
